The Wonderful, Frightening World of Mark E. Smith

Earlier this year BBC 4 released (what I've heard is a fantastic) documentary called The Fall: The Wonderful, Frightening World of Mark E. Smith. Unfortunately it couldn't be seen in the US, until now. Fall fans in Philadelphia will be treated to a rare glimpse of this rockumentary at The International House on December 16 and 17th. Fake Jazz called this documentary a "must-see":

"This documentary on BBC4 was a notch above the usual rockumentary. If you've forgotten that you love the Fall, this is a must-see. Mark E. Smith is pretty much unintelligble in his 2004 interviews (they really shoulda subtitled) but the glimpses into the most recent Peel Session reveal that he's still 'got it', even he's just moaning through a cover of the Move's "I Can Hear the Grass Grow." This was probably filmed just before John Peel passed, so maybe it just seems appropriate to see the Fall in there since they did 20+ Peel Sessions."

The Fall Cancel US Tour Again

Due to a mixup with obtaining the correct visa documents, THE FALL have once again cancelled their US tour. I'm sure most venue's will be offering a full refund for advance ticket sales. Please contact the venue in your area for details.
The following statement was sent to each venue's booking agent:

"first of all thanks for your help so far.I'm sorry for not being in touch but only this week we lost hope and have now decided to cancel the tour, as the visa-application should have been processed first, and then a tour booked. I understand this is the correct procedure, but as you know Ed just booked the tour without making sure we would have a visa. The agency you recommended seemed hopeful at first, but it soon became clear that the processing times are too long at the present moment. I am very sorry that due to the strict visa regulations we cannot do anything else but cancel all shows. Any further bookings in the future will certainly be made in the correct way.
Mark E. Smith apologises to all fans and promoters."
