Lots of good tour news last week. I bought tickets to see Godspeed but got my scheduling messed up because it's on the same day as Coachella. Damn, would've loved to see Godspeed at Big Sur, CA. If you ever get a chance to drive up the California coast, do it. But remember, it's a LONG drive so make sure you plan accordingly.

Godspeed, Avalanches, Stone Roses, Chemical Brothers live film, Adam Ant tour dates? So much stuff this last week.

Lots of stuff this week. I'm using the "predict a coachella appearance" expression a bit too much for my taste. There are just a lot of tour dates announced and they all put bands in Southern California in late April. In any case, lots of good stuff this week, enjoy!

Interpol are making some announcements over the coming weeks. But the important one is that you can click "read more" and download their new track, "Lights", below. You have to put in your birthdate and email address and then they'll send you a link via email. I've downloaded the track and it's not bad. I'm looking forward to new Interpol music.

We've all seen unofficial music videos -- clips that folks who dig a band make because ... they dig a band. Some work out great like "My Body Is A Cage" or HEALTH's "Heaven," and others are better left to the dustbin. Well, Aaron Koblin, a visual artist/Interpol fan, put together a tech-y video for "Rest My Chemistry" with the help of his production company, Blip Boutique. He wanted to adapt the technology he uses for his art to make a kind of art piece for the song. As the production company noted:

We wanted to do something for this song that was not specifically intended for broadcast, but that was more of an art piece that would live and grow primarily online. We wanted to use a new technology using data mapping to create an abstract video.

The result looks like biological -- or, right, chemical -- fireworks. Or Tron. Interpol was contacted about the project, liked it, and endorsed it. Does that make it official? We're not sure, but it's definitely a striking accompaniment to those starry, Pixie-ish guitar licks and Paul's baritone. - Source

After first learning about the collaboration from Interpol's Sam Forgarino and Swervedriver's Adam Franklin, it seemed like it was going to be something that was too good to be true. On NPR website, there is a weekly show called All Songs Considered and they have archived several full concerts from artists like Death Cab For Cutie, Secret Machines, My Morning Jacket, White Stripes, Sigur Ros, Interpol and more. The Hyundai (formerly Blockbuster) Pavilion is the probably the worst place to see a concert.... unless you're in the first ten rows. If you're in the lawn (like most people) then just forget about it. You might as well be watching it on TV because you're going to be spending the whole day staring at the jumbo-screens. Today's lineup is pretty impressive and it's the first time that I ever heard of the "nation's largest amphitheater" selling out.
