Johnny Marr Writes Theme for Awesome David Cross Show

David Cross is a pretty funny commedian. He's been in a ton of stuff including Mr. Show with Bob and David and Arrested Development. He co-wrote a new show called "The Increasingly Poor Descisions of Todd Margaret" and Johnny Marr has wrote the theme song. Another fun fact about Johnny Marr is that he wrote some of the music for the film, Inception, but this is his first television work.

The show will air in October on Channel 4 in the UK and on IFC in the US. There's a bootleg of the pilot available on youtube, but it doesn't contain the theme song. You should still watch it as it's pretty funny.

The unlikely frontman returns

In one of the most celebrated returns of a modern indierock hero, Johnny Marr is back. His new band The Healers will be releasing their debut album 'Boomslang' on Feb 3, 2002 on iMusic. Produced and written by Johnny in his Manchester studio, we should expect a preview of the new material on January 20 when the first single 'Bangin' On' is to be released in the UK.
"I try to keep myself curious and interesting, otherwise life's wasted and I wouldn' t feel I had anything to say. The way the music comes out is just how I sound these days."

The Healers are Johnny on vox and guitars, Alonza Bevan ex-Kula Shaker on bass, ex-Kula Shaker and Zak Starkey (Ringo's son) banging the drums. A UK tour is being planned for early next year. I'll keep you updated on US release dates and tour news.

THE HEALERS, the new band led by former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, are beginning to take shape with the announcement that former Kula Shaker bassist Alonza Bevan has joined the ranks. The band are readying their debut album, to be entitled "Play Dumb," for a likely fall release. The Healers are set to make their large scale live debut opening for Oasis in Europe beginning late May.

This year's England World Cup song "(How Does It Feel To Be) On Top Of the World" was co-written by Ian McCulloch and Johnny Marr . It is set to be released on June 1st. The track also features all the Spice Girls on backing vocals, as well as contributions by members of Space and Ocean Color Scene . Also scheduled for release is "Three Lions 98" from the Lightning Seeds , a reworking of their prior World Cup theme.
