Ben Gibbard breaks the disappointing news to Spinner: *"It's just not a priority for either of us. So the next Postal Service record may or may never happen. Jimmy and I are still throwing ideas back and forth, but as time goes on, we find ourselves busy with our own music. We have some stuff, but it's been difficult to find the time and the drive to do the record. I'd love to finish it at some point and maybe even do some performances. The Brothers Jarman take a break from their apparent quest to make a video for every song from their great Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever long enough to have someone do a remix of latest single "I'm A Realist." But not just any "someone": this comes from Laptop For Cutie project the Postal Service. And what separates a Postal Service Remix from the more frequently occurring Dntel remix? Well Jimmy's gotta be joined by Ben, so on this sustain-synth smeared, thinly clicked reworking Gibbard makes sure to color up the scene by singing "bum," "bum," and of course "bum." Obviously Jimmy could have/probably did just crib those monosyllabic melodies from any of a number of Death Cab tunes, but still the sound is more Postal Service than it is say James Figurine. - Source

Ben Gibbard and Jimmy Tamborello have struck a deal with the United States Postal Service. Bigwigs at the USPS weren't thrilled when they found out a few months ago that SubPop band, The Postal Service, had stolen their moniker for their band name. It was a little too late to release cease and desist letters as The Postal Service (the band) has been recording record breaking sales and has garnered quite the cult following. When said USPS bigwigs heard The Postal Service background (Ben and Jimmy made the record by sending bits and pieces back and forth through the US Mail system)... they thought they strike a deal with the resourceful duo. SubPop has agreed to let the band's music be featured in commercial spots for the USPS along with ad campaigns and promotions... in exchange for not losing the name.

Indiesynthpop duo The Postal Service are taking to the road this weekend for a month long US tour. The band (a collaboration between Death Cab For Cutie's Ben Gibbard and Dntel's Jimmy Tamborello) have just hit the #1 spot on the CMJ college radio airplay chart with their Sub Pop release 'Give Up'. According to a recent MTV interview, in order to keep the audience interested in a performance that is basically 2 boys and a laptop... they plan on showing videos during each tune. Also appearing on stage will be Rilo Kelly singer Jenny Lewis who also contributes backing vocals on the full length album.
