Lollapalooza 2009 Lineup: Now With 100% More Animal Collective

It seems like Coachella was only yesterday. Since this year's Lolla headliners (and then some) leaked long ago, we already knew about Beastie Boys, Depeche Mode, Jane's Addiction, Tool, Kings Of Leon, the Killers, Lou Reed, Decemberists, Neko Case, and Andrew Bird. Not too shabby. But almost too shabby. If that assortment of talent didn't convince you to attend, maybe this will: Animal Collective, Fleet Foxes, Deerhunter, Bat For Lashes, TV On The Radio, and Vampire Weekend. And an Animal Collective DJ set. Here's the whole lineup, in poster and video form because festival reveals come with videos these days.Continue reading Lollapalooza 2009 Lineup: Now With 100% More Animal Collective... - Source

Stephen Colbert Strokes Kyp Malone's Beard

Stephen fulfilled the wish of many-a-Williamsburg-coffee-shop-hipster while interviewing TV On The Radio last night, calling Kyp's face-fro "like a vacation in a faraway forest" and seeming to get himself a "Colbert bump" in the process. After a cutely awkward interview, TVOTR rip through "Dancing Choose," making up for their slightly off SNL stop. Enjoy it. - Source

New TV On The Radio - "Dancing Choose"

Our first taste of TVOTR's forthcoming Return To Cookie Mountain followup Dear Science was the funky, optimistic, mystic (and in the chorus, PM Dawn?) leaning "Golden Age," Kyp letting us know that, indeed, a golden age is coming around. Tunde-fronted "Dancing Choose" is taste number two. His scattershot lyrics and quick vocal delivery have more urgency, but check out the similar psychedelic smoothness in the chorus. Two other things worth your attention: Axl Rose gets a mention and "Dancing Choose" is a pun. - Source

TV On The Radio - Live

TV On The Radio - Philadelphia - First Unitarian Church - May 12th

Someone posted on the (mailing) list earlier about how wonderful TV On The Radio was live in D.C. Between that and a friend's recommendations, I've picked up the Young Liars EP and the new album "Desperate Youth, Blood Thirsty Babes". Both are great albums, but I was curious to see what kind of sound they would be able to come up with in a live setting. I was so impressed with their musicianship, passion, and energy... what a show!
