Falco The Movie (Finally)

We've been dreaming of the day this biopic would come to life and here it is, Falco: Verdammt, Wir Leben Noch!. Now can someone please tell us what that means? After watching the trailer, we're happy to note Grace Jones plays a key role, but otherwise, it's in Austrian German without subtitles. We, do, though, understand Falco's spiraling downfall into a bed filled with thonged ladies. Remember, dude died when he was hit by a bus. Now we're privy to the most poignant and cinematic of moments (and aviator shades) of the man behind "Rock Me Amadeus." (Via The Playlist via DailySwarm)

Kinda like Control for a one-hit wonder. We kid. Wonder what Thomas Bernhard would've thought of this. We don't kid. As of now, there's no US release date. Can our Austrian readers let us know how much it rocks? So far the comments at YouTube don't help. - Source

Bjork Discusses What It Means To Be A '2008 Person'

She tells The Australian: *"I think I am a very Icelandic person in every way. But, then again, I think my position as an Icelander was to go out and meet people. I also think that, with globalisation and everything, being from one country and having that particular one sound of whatever your nation represents is not true. There's no such thing any more. To be in the moment, to be a 2008 person, it's more of an international affair, especially sonically. You hear the radio in a taxi, and go to an Indian restaurant and hear Indian music. You're hearing everything. I think you can still be from where you are, and be truthful about that, but you are still a person of the world."* Read the rest of the piece here.MP3: Bjork - I Miss You - Source

New Sun Kil Moon - "Moorestown"

From the man who reminded us New Jersey isn't exactly the whole world comes "Moorestown," another melancholic Garden State tune. Fittingly, it seems to take place all across America, but the Jersey kid on staff confirms Moorestown's the home of his favorite childhood mall, and imagines Mark Kozelek's drawing on some of that commerce for his tale of distance, comings, and goings (but mostly goings). Sure, Red House Painters are now Sun Kil Moon; Kozelek's voice is so immediately evocative of anything he's ever sung, though, that the second this song's over, you want to rifle through the collection and listen to all the stories he's told, regardless of what he's calling his project. Don't believe it? Listen (click and scroll). "Moorestown" comes from Sun Kil Moon's new one April, fittingly due April 1 on Kozelek's Caldo Verde label. Bonus: April -- not the cruelest month this year after all -- includes two Will Oldham guest spots.  Source

Extending Album Art

Taking Sleeveface in a different direction, "Extending Album Art" provides us with the portions of the cover art that fall outside the usual frame: "Using any tools available - you, your record collection, a camera, photoshop, a scanner, whatever works - show us what happens beyond the borders of classic album sleeves, how the artwork continues. Challenge open for TWO magnificent weeks." The challenge is now closed, but you can check out the often hilarious submissions: Like, of course there's another brick in The Wall, floor, and ceiling. Viscera-dripping Prince is in there, too. Source

New Mark Ronson Video - "Just"

Even though he's been fab-from-birth, it wasn't 'til Ronson "covered" Radiohead back in '06 that heads outside the NYC/London/Tom-Kat-wedding DJ scene turned. First just a single, then included on Exit Music: Songs With Radio Heads and given a video, setting the template for what his future covers, like his takes on the Smiths and Coldplay for Version, would sound like. Since "Just" was Mark's first self-created authentic shit to really catch hold, though, it reappeared on last year's LP -- and, here, gets yet another video treatment. It's the cover that will never die. (This time it's more clearly Mark's video because he plays the entire band and, more importantly, his name is on the kick drum.) Before you ask why he doesn't write his own songs -- the subtitled janitor beat you to it.  Source
