New Stereolab Video - "Neon Beanbag"

Following the lead of the similarly psychedelic "Three Women" clip, the Julian House-directed video for "Neon Beanbag" initially looks like the song's title suggests before moving into a muted collagist landscape of faded '50s (and beyond) pop imagery and ubiquitous thought/action bubbles that also act as tear drops, beanbags, and straight-up graphic design. It's the opener from Chemical Chords, Stereolab's new previously mentioned first proper album in four years, from which we've also seen them do a live "Valley Hi!." - Source

A day after Digital Music News reported that RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) top execs earned about $1.5 million a year, VentureBeat reported that RIAA shut down Muxtape (online music mixtapes).  You may remember one of those executives from her days chasing down illegal file sharers, one pesky villain at a time.

The Decemberists Return With A Bunch Of Singles And An Ode To Valerie Plame

It's not exactly like Colin & The Gang have been out of sight since dropping The Crane Wife, but sure and yes, a new batch of Decemberists songs sounds great thank you. As far as we know the promise for an album in 2009 still stands, although this is not it; the project's dubbed Always The Bridesmaid: A Singles Series, and will unfold in three volumes, beginning this October. As you already read a few inches above, it includes a song about outed C.I.A. operative Valerie Plame, entitled "Valerie Plame," press-release described as being from "the point-of-view of one of Plame's inside contacts.
