Bumbershoot Line-Up Announced and other things NW

By brian

The line-up was finally revealed for the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle, WA. The event takes place at the Seattle Center each Labor Day weekend. The good news: The Festival has Death Cab For Cutie, Lou Barlow, American Music Club, Nancy Sinatra, Pedro The Lion, Robyn Hitchcock, The Black Keys, Liz Phair, Public Enemy, The Beta Band, The Walkmen, Built To Spill, The Killers, and The Pixies. The Bad news: these bands are spread out over the course of 4 days. If only they were on one, maybe two nights... I would be inclined to make the trip up from Portland. If only.

In other Seattle news: Beastie Boys have announced a show at the Key Arena Sept 19. It is the only show announced thus far for the US. I am sure there will be more to come.

PJ Harvey has just announced a whirlwind West Coast US Tour. That tour consisting of:

Aug 13 Belly Up, Solana Beach
Aug 15 Henry Fonda Theatre Los Angeles - Don't Knock The Rock Festival
Aug 16/17 Knitting Factory Los Angeles
Aug 19 Great American Music Hall - San Francisco, CA
Aug 20 Catalyst- Santa Cruz, CA

As usual, the Pacific Northwest does not count as the West Coast. Santa Cruz gets a show, Come on :(

Finally, the tour to catch coming in September is Franz Ferdinand, who are going to be on the road with Graham Coxon, and the Futureheads. If you have not seen Franz yet, they are amazing. They played at a venue in Portland where the patrons are usually "too cool for school". They are usually talking, not paying attention, etc. Franz Ferdinand had them jumping up and down with the kind of energy that I have never seen from that place. And Graham is the cherry on top.
