Well, its official -- DONNA MATTHEWS has left ELASTICA. Rumours have been long circulating about a massive rift between Matthews and Justine Frischmann being the cause of the nearly half decade wait for Elastica's sophomore release. The official press statement released today confirms that Matthews has left the band due to "a breakdown in both personal and creative relationships within the group." Elastica, meanwhile, have beefed up their lineup to become a 6-piece, recruiting original bassist Annie Holland (who quit the band midway through touring the first album,) as well as guitarist Paul Jones (currently of LINOLEUM to fill the hole left by Matthews. Donna has yet to release an announcement of her future plans, though she can be heard contributing two tracks to the recently released RENTALS album, "Seven More Minutes."
