Seahorses Split
Well, we WERE going to shut down the news desk for a week while we move (see story below.) We WERE... until news broke this week that John Squire has split THE SEAHORSES. Apparantly Squire and Chris Helme reached an impasse over the direction of the band and chose to pack it in. This announcement has immediately caused a flury of The Great Stone Roses Reunion rumours across the Internet and beyond. At this point, here is what's known to be true: Apparantly ex-Roses bassist Mani (now of Primal Scream) has been openly hinting that he'd be up for a reunion, and also alerted people to the Seahorses split before it was made public. Meanwhile, the Roses' former singer, Ian Brown, fresh out of the pokey, has posted a message on his official website saying the reunion rumours are just that, rumours. We'll of course keep you up to date. There have been no announced plans for any former members of the Seahorses, and no announcement as to the status of the band's sophomore album, which is believed to be completely wrapped up and was tentatively scheduled for release this spring.
