Coachella 2006 Rumors

COACHELLA is right around the corner and it's that time of the year where the rumors start flying before the official line-up is announced. DEPECHE MODE has already confirmed their appearance and a SMASHING PUMPKINS reunion is also possible. Recently I received an image of a fake lineup that people are passing around as the real thing. While that looks like a good list, I prefer the line up with Creed and Boyz II Men headlining. :)

Depeche Mode to Headline Coachella 2006

Sources are confirming today that DEPECHE MODE have been confirmed to headline the first night of the 2006 Coachella Music & Arts Festival, to be held as always in Indio, CA this spring. More artists are expected to be announced as the festival draws closer.

Counterfeit Gore, Take 2

April 29 the US will get a new record from Martin Gore (Depeche Mode) on Mute/Reprise. The new album, Counterfeit is the second in Martin's series of cover albums (the first being released in 1989). This album will feature re- worked tunes by Iggy Pop, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, David Essex, Lou Reed, John Lennon and more.

"Without some of the artists I've covered here, I wouldn't be writing the way I do. They have all affected me at some point, especially when I was younger." Martin goes on to say that he has created this album from a fan's perspective because he has a deep personal connection to all of the songs he's covered.

I'm Not Very Exciter

Get ready for one of the greatest promotions machines in the music world to get rolling again, as DEPECHE MODE have kicked into the hype for their upcoming record "Exciter." Starting today, you can log onto the band's official website, www.depechemode.com, and hear excerpts from the band's new material. Today's excerpt appears to be, erm, six seconds of a cappella vocals. The album is slated for European release on May 14, and in the States the following day.

A Pair of DM Collaborations

DEPECHE MODE songwriter, Martin Gore has completed a remix from Ken Andrews' band, ON. Andrews has been working on his solo project since his departure from FAILURE last year. The remix will be on a promo-only single, Shifting Skin, out April 4th. The album will be released soon after and has been recorded mostly by Andrews with help from members of Blinker the Star, Medicine, and God Lives Underwater. Alan Wilder (ex-Depeche Mode keyboardist) will be releasing a RECOIL album on March 7th titled Liquid.
