Gomez at House of Blues in San Diego

Gomez is one of those "must-see" bands for me. No matter how many times they play or how good/bad their most recent album is, I need to see them every time. Despite being a fan, their last two records were kinda weak. There were some highlights, but overall they were just missing something. Thankfully their latest record, "How We Operate" is fantastic so I don't mind if they focus on new material.

Gomez Release 5th Album Plus US Tour

GOMEZ are set to return to the US in May to support their fifth album, "How We Operate". They've been playing together for almost 10 years with the original lineup, which is fairly impressive. It's rare these days that a band can survive critical success and several US tours without breaking up. The new album is fantastic and some of my favorite tracks are "Notice", "Charley Patton Songs", and the first single, "How We Operate" which you can hear/see:

I think Gomez are one of the most entertaining bands live, their current tour dates are now listed.

Email from Gomez?

Do you live in New York, Pittsburgh or Columbus? If so, when GOMEZ comes to your town this June you can take buy a "special ticket package" that includes admission to the concert, a copy of the band's new album, "Split The Difference", and an email. An email? Yes... in that email will be a link to three live downloads from the show you saw. Hmm... not a bad idea.

If you don't live in one of those 3 places don't fret yet... this tour could be more extensive than the 3 announced shows and if not the band will be back in July as part of the Lollapalooza tour that will be criss-crossing North America in July and August.

Gomez - Anaheim, CA - House of Blues - February 10, 2004

Anaheim is famous for one thing, Disneyland. Sure the local baseball team, The Anaheim Angels, won the world series a few years back but that's nothing compared to the evil mouse. The House of Blues is located in "Downtown Disney" which is like a really really overpriced outdoor mall. There's a movie theatre, some expensive restaurants an ESPN Zone and of course, the House of Blues. It was all kinda weird because it felt like you were inside Disneyland the whole time.

Finally, Some New Gomez

It's been a long two and a half years since Gomez released Liquid Skin in 1999 and now they're back with a new single, Sure Shot, and an album, In Our Gun. Both releases will be out this March.

Gomez Release A B-Sides Comp.

GOMEZ have announced details of their latest release. It's a b-sides & rarities compilation to be titled, "Abandoned Shopping Trolley Hotline." The album, which DOES include their cover of The Beatles' "Getting Better" (made famous thanks to all those Phillips TV ads,) is scheduled for a UK release on Sept. 25 - no word yet whether it'll see a Stateside release.

Gomez, Tricky, Chems, and SFA Tour Updates

LOTS of new tours to report on... We've got confirmation on a U.S. mini-tour from GOMEZ - It's a quickie - just six dates, major cities only, in late September. Plus we've got the TRICKY tour now being confirmed by the official website. Add to that another confirmed US leg for the CHEMICAL BROTHERS. Beyond that, we've put the BIS tour dates up hopefully in enough time for you to score tickets.

Possible Gomez/Mojave 3 Tour

MOJAVE 3 and GOMEZ may be touring the states together starting in April. Further details are expected soon.

Gomez and U2 News

GOMEZ make their U.S. network television debut tomorrow night, November 10th, on "Late Night with Conan O'Brian." The U2 best of 1980-1990 compilation on sale now includes a 2nd disc of notable b-sides from that era. However, only the initial shipments of 1980-1990 include the 2nd disc, so if you're intending to pick up a copy, you ought to do so promptly. (Lord knows they need the cash.) Also, the first disc includes a secret track at the end.
