Doves Release A 'Best Of' and New Track, 'Andalucia'

This week the Doves are released a greatest hits album in a 2CD set.  There's also a DVD which includes videos.  It's a pretty standard format, disc 1 has the hits and disc 2 has the rarities.  And to annoy all those collectors out there, it includes one new song, 'Andalucia'.  They made a video for the track which is included below and you can also checkout the tracklisting if you click on the "read more" link.

New Doves - "Push Me On (Playgroup Megamix)" (Stereogum Premiere)

After prepping with a Progress Report and then tracking "Jetstream" and Kingdom Of Rust's emotional title track, we felt pretty secure in our knowledge of Doves' fourth album, though in no way did we expect an icy, 12-minute, techno-infused remix of a b-side. But here goes: British electroclash act Playgroup, aka Trevor Jackson, has extended non-album track "Push Me On" and taken it onto a very cold dance floor. More surprising than the remix itself? That it basically works. Even if you spit out your afternoon coffee when you read the word "electroclash."Continue reading New Doves - "Push Me On (Playgroup Megamix)" (Stereogum Premiere)... - Source

Progress Report: Doves

NAME: Doves
PROGRESS REPORT: Prepping their forth album, Kingdom Of Rust, out April 6.

"We go into the studio and we tend to go in daily until we get somewhere, and that's either a really pleasant experience or a really torturous experience," Doves vocalist and bassist Jimi Goodwin says. And with four years between this record and 2005's Some Cities, you'd hope Doves had more of the former experience. But most of the intervening years were spent on all the stuff outside the band and the studio. "We took time off. [Drummer] Andy [Williams] had a baby in October of last year, so I think we took out six weeks then, and that was the longest hiatus we had for the record," Goodwin says. "When we go in and do stuff, it's roll your sleeves up and tank up your life for a while until its done. But sadly real life has a habit of poking its head in, with and lots of ups and downs." So recording wasn't relaxed, he says, but just broken up by all the other things band members had going on. Continue reading Progress Report: Doves... - Source

Doves and Elbow Tour the US

Torr Leonard sent in a link to Billboard about the upcoming co-headlining Doves and Elbow tour. The tour is still in planning stages but it will cover 10-dates across the US and is expected to start in June. I want to know if Elbow will ever do a headlining tour across America? So far they've opened for Goldfrapp and Pete Yorn and co-headlined a tour with South.

The Hardest Workin' Man In Hip-Hop

Dan the Automator just released his own mixed compilation, 'Wanna Buy A Monkey?'. It has exclusive mixes from Air, Zero 7 and Tortoise. Also, when I was listening to the minimix of the album I swore that I heard some of the Doves right at the very end. For those of you going to the last couple Gorillaz shows, make sure to get their early as Dan the Automator will be spinning.
