Don't Cry for Me, Twee Nation: Isobel Quits Belle & Sebastian

Cellist and singer ISOBEL CAMPBELL has left BELLE AND SEBASTIAN, it was announced today. According to a press statement from the band's official website, Campbell left the band and returned to England mid-way through their recent American tour (and none of us apparantly noticed?!) Campbell's contributions to the band were clearly evident by her vocals, which appeared on a good percentage of the group's recorded materials, including the new album "Storytelling," released this week. There are no plans withing the Belle & Sebastian camp to replace Campbell, and her departure will not affect the band's current plans. The split is said to be amicable, and Campbell's newly recorded solo album is due later this year.
