Spiritualized

Spiritualized
Los Angeles, Wiltern
November 13, 2001

No opening act. 2+ hours of spiritualized. Full band, brass section, choir, c'mon you just can't go wrong with that!!

I almost didn't go tonight, my friend talked me into buying a ticket at the last minute so I was sitting really far away at the Wiltern Theatre. I've seen Spiritualized several times and there just isn't any reason to stand in front of Jason Pierce because he doesn't move at all. Sitting about ten rows from the back was a great place to see the show that they put on.

A Reason To Watch TV

Stu sent in a reminder that Spiritualized will be appearing on the Tonight Show on Monday, November 5th. I checked the Late Night TV Page and found out that the Beta Band is playing the Craig Kilborn show on Wednesday, November 7th. And don't forget that Ravi Shankar will be on Conan O'Brian on Thursday, November 15.

New Spiritualized Record Includes Sculpture

Spiritualized have been known for their insane album packaging. 'Pure Phase' was inside a glow-in-the-dark jewel case (one of my prize possessions), their last album, 'Ladies and Gentlemen We're Floating In Space' was inside a foil sealed pill box.

Their new album, 'Let It Come Down' will be a gold CD, housed in a plastic box with a sculpture by Don Brown. Dotmusic has a picture of the sculpture, and I must say that it looks pretty cool.

Spiritualized in LA

Lisa sent me this bit of info: "Spiritualized are close to confirming a live date in Los Angeles in November. The band will be performing a three-hour set with no opening act, and will be accompanied by a 17-piece orchestra."

The new album is fantastic and I personally can't wait for this show!!

Spiritualized Complete New Album

Spiritualized have finally completed their new record and it's set to be released on September 11th. It's titled, "Let It Come Down" and it's their first since 1997's "Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating In Space".

UPDATED 6/27/2001: The first single will be "Stop Your Crying" out on August 27th. You can listen to it after July 3rd from the official site. Hit the Read More link for the full tracklisting. On Fire

Coachella #1

For the past few years, the Tibetan Freedom Concert has arguably been the United States live music event of the year. This year, however, the COACHELLA FESTIVAL seems destined to be the event to remember. The show, which is October 9-10 at Coachella Valley, near Palm Springs, features a lineup including UNDERWORLD, BECK, THE CHEMICAL BROTHERS, SUPER FURRY ANIMALS, GUS GUS, and CIBO MATTO, just to name a few. The event also features a good deal of intrigue. The U.S. debut of the new SPIRITUALIZED live lineup is bound to be interesting.

Jason Spaceman Fires The Band

Yet another Day the Music Died, as SPIRITUALIZED have split up in the strangest of circumstances. Lead guitarist Mike Mooney, drummer Damon Reese, and bassist Sean Cook were abruptly sacked from the band this week by frontman Jason Pierce (while keyboardist Kate Radley, once girlfriend of Pierce and now wife of Richard Ashcroft, apparantly left the band prior to this week's actions.) The sacked members were notified this week by nothing more than a legal document seeking to terminate their "contract" with Pierce.

Spiritualized's Live Album

It's official... SPIRITUALIZED are to release a live album later this year. The band are currently mixing tracks from their appearance earlier this year at the Royal Albert Hall (which featured, among other things, a full string orchestra.) In the meantime, we can look forward to a new Spiritualized release, The Abbey Road EP, technically a CD single for the track "Come Together," due in UK stores this May. However, we've also received word that parent company BMG have closed down the Dedicated label. This means that Spiritualized may have to quickly find a new home...
