As reported, the makers of the Tron sequel (now called TRON: LEGACY) tapped robots of Daft Punk to score their forthcoming remake. And as Twilight fans Thom Yorke and Bon Iver reminded us earlier today, it is Comic-Con week, the time where studios preview their sci-fi wares and naturally make lots of indie rock news in the process. In a few days the city's indie kids will make their way out to Coney Island for the Voice's annual Siren festival, chances are many of the same kids who made the trek last night to see Tweedy and Yo La and surprise guests Feist and Ed Droste at KeySpan Park last night. Wilco welcomed openers Yo La (whose set pulled from their fantastic new Popular Songs LP, along with some "Autumn Sweater" and the like) onstage for "Spiders (Kidsmoke)," a few songs after Cyclone buddies Leslie and Droste joined the band on "You & I." It was the second time Feist performed the (The Album) collab live, the third coming tonight with Wilco's scheduled Letterman performance. The set spans eight songs, recorded in NYC, LA, and of course Nebraska, with production assists from Jason Lander and Mike Mogis. We're scraping for details here, so the best we can offer is there are songs titled "River Of Brake Lights," "Glass," and the L.E.S. referencing "Ludlow St." And that this album preview looks like a movie trailer, is anti-drinking, and is more cinematically synth-poppy than you expected. So far it seem like folks' favorite No One's First And You're Next-related track was the slippery 6-minute "Whale Song." Well satisfied fans, the mid-tempo Big Easy horn howler "Perpetual Motion Machine" takes Brock and Co. into a pretty different direction. You can hear it over at SPIN. As far as context, the eight-song No One's First And You're Next is out 8/4 via Epic. "Perpetual Motion Machine" will be backed by "History Sticks To Your Feet" on the official 7" single. Modest Mouse are on tour this summer. Johnny Marr's busy with Cribs, of course, so they'll be joined by ex-Grandaddy guitarist Jim Fairchild instead. - Source
