Apparently I'm still not back on track but managed to go through my leads and pick out some interesting stories.  So if you've been AWOL like me for the last couple of weeks then this should help you get caught up, read on!

In a few days the city's indie kids will make their way out to Coney Island for the Voice's annual Siren festival, chances are many of the same kids who made the trek last night to see Tweedy and Yo La and surprise guests Feist and Ed Droste at KeySpan Park last night. Wilco welcomed openers Yo La (whose set pulled from their fantastic new Popular Songs LP, along with some "Autumn Sweater" and the like) onstage for "Spiders (Kidsmoke)," a few songs after Cyclone buddies Leslie and Droste joined the band on "You & I." It was the second time Feist performed the (The Album) collab live, the third coming tonight with Wilco's scheduled Letterman performance. Georgia Hubley, Ira Kaplan and James McNew will likely be at it longer than you'll ever be at it. After 2006's I Am Not Afraid of You and I Will Beat Your Ass and the equally feisty Fuckbook, which they recently released as Condo Fucks, Yo La Tengo are at least a dozen proper albums into their career via the forthcoming Popular Songs. It was recorded in Hoboken and Nashville with Roger Mountenot at the start of the year. We don't know too much else about it, except that the mellow, organ-lined lead track "Periodically Double Or Triple" is a garage-y song that could have been written in the '60s, if not for the reference to Judge Judy (it opens with a reference to the equally outspoken Proust). It seems illness has forced She and Him-- one M. Ward and one Zooey Deschanel-- to cancel tonight's set at New York City's Hiro Ballroom, which would've kicked off their all-too-brief touring plans. (Via Brooklyn Vegan.) All other dates on the tour are still on, as is their appearance on tomorrow night's episode of "Late Night With Conan O'Brien". - Source

Radioland tends to favor booming voices, big personalities, and a lotta drive-time giveaways. But despite his involvement with one of the finest rock'n'roll bands in modern history, Yo La Tengo's Ira Kaplan rarely speaks above a whisper, seems far from ostentatious in his manners, and has nothing to give away but his song and a few well-honed witticisms. - Source

"Kaplan's Corner" is a good place to be. In this behind-the-scene video, Ira Kaplan reaches out and explains the story behind how Yo La Tengo got their name. Most fans would know that already, but here are some other things we learn: Georgia has one hell of a swing, James needs to work on his curve ball, Ira's too distracted to be a good outfielder and often looks like he's about to break out laughing when he interviews someone, and, finally, Mets great Ed Kranepool not only has a cool name, he seems like a cool guy.
