Air Live Review
Air
Mayan Theatre, Los Angeles
Wednesday, July 11, 2001
I've never seen Air before so when tickets went on sale for forty bucks (thirty plus ten for ticketmaster), I didn't really hesistate. I'm subscribed to the Astralwerks newsletter and there are little reports about how great the tour is going and how everyone is in love with Air right now. Well, that was all a bunch of hype, I wish I would've never read that because my expectations were high enough.
Embrace Goes Online (updated)
I saw this over at BBC Online about how Danny McNamara of Embrace will only be communicating via their official site, www.embrace.co.uk from now on. This really isn't an original idea as Radiohead have been doing it for a while with their site, Spin With A Grin.

Mercury Music Prize Drama
Radio 1 announced the Mercury Music Prize nominations yesterday. They included, Basement Jaxx, Turin Breaks, Gorillaz, Super Furry Animals, Goldfrapp, Elbow, and Radiohead.
Then the Gorillaz refuse the nomination. Murdoc said, "Mercury Award? Sounds a bit heavy, man! You know - like carrying a dead albatross round your neck for eternity. No thanks man!"
And today the band's label, Parlophone, said that since they put the Gorillaz in the race, only they can pull them out.
Start the Starsailor Bashing
NME is reporting that Mogwai and Ash have started to bash Starsailor for their success in England. Stuart Braithwaite from Mogwai said that Walsh would "rape his own granny" to achieve fame. Starsailor's next single, "Alcoholic", is out on September 17th and their album, "Love Is Here", will be out on October 8th. The full tracklisting is inside.
My Radiohead/Ticketmaster Nightmare
Radiohead tickets went on sale yesterday for their LA and NY stops and buying tickets via ticketmaster proved to be a nightmare once again. For some insane reason everything must go onsale Saturdays at 10am, so obviously the millions of Radiohead and Janet Jackson fans were pounding the system the same time I went online. Why oh why can't they stagger the onsale times throughout the day?
I filed this under Technology because Ticketmaster needs to improve theirs. Click read more to check out the rest of my story...
Ian Brown Remixes the Manics
Ian Brown will be remixing the next Manic Street Preachers single, "Let Robeson Sing". NME reports that he's going to bring in Aziz Ibrahim and Inder Goldfinger to help, and Brown will provide the vocals.
