Belle And Sebastian Skip Tour Duties

Twee fans over the world must be muttering a sweet disgruntled sigh as they slip on their schoolboy uniforms this morning, as NME is reporting that BELLE AND SEBASTIAN will NOT be touring in support of their new album. The band, known almost as much for their eccentricities as their music, was expected by some to launch a comprehensive tour after the chart success of recent single, "Legal Man." Liam and Patsy Split

Noel may be back, but Patsy's flown the coop. That's official word today from OASIS management, who have confirmed that singer's Liam Gallagher's marriage to actress Patsy Kensit is over. The couple, who have a son named Lennon, confirmed the much-rumoured split via the band's publicist. In other Oasis news, brother Noel rejoined the live Oasis this weekend in Dublin, and audience reports showed a highly-fueled, non-bickering set. The elder Gallagher maintains that he will only play live with the band during their UK dates.

Is NME Against Napster?

Not news so much as a quick opinion from Shane this morning (and please realize that my views aren't necessarily those of this site - usually I keep my opinions to my columns, but this one is brief): Is it just me, or is NME decidedly AGAINST Napster? Over the past two weeks, NME has been seemingly trying to cause as much scuttlebutt as possible over the already controversial program.

As we reported yesterday, the band's set at last weekend's Glastonbury Festival was a bit tumultuous, and ended with frontman Shaun Ryder storming off-stage not once, but twice. Many news reports came out yesterday claiming that the recently reformed band was about to split due to internal strife. Well, Excellent Online can officially reveal that this is NOT the case.

Ex-Marion Frontman Arrested

A sad story makes it way around the Net today. Tough times indeed for former MARION frontman JAIME HARDING, who, according to a press clipping from the Macclesfield Express that's been circulating about the Net, was arrested in his car earlier this month and charged with heroin possession. Also implicated was the singer's girlfriend, Dawn Brocklehurst. The singer has never denied drug problems in the past, and it's been long rumoured that Harding's habit was the real reason behind the band's breakup last year.
