Air's Soundtrack, More new Orbital, and some new tours announced

The very first science fiction movie is a silence movie about a voyage to the moon.  Since it's french it's called "Le Voyage Dans La Lune".  And since it's French, Air wrote the soundtrack to it.  It was a coin flip between them and Daft Punk (HA, stupid americans!).  I find it interesting because it was made in black and white and hand colored versions back in the early 1900's.  The black and white version has long since been destroyed and the colored version was found in 1993 but had to be restored.  Naturally, wikipedia has more info on this film.

Also happening is Killing Joke's return, a bunch of tour announcements, and what the hell was Echo and the Bunnymen doing in a superbowl ad?

Groovy Train: Explosions in the Sky, New Elbow, She & Him, Radiohead, Strokes, Suede, Stone Roses-ish, Pixes

Lots of good stuff, especially the new Elbow track if you missed it.  Plus the clip of Noel talking about how influential the Stone Roeses' Spike Island gig is pretty cool.

Monday Wrapup: Arcade Fire, Lou Reed, Daft Punk, Girls, XX, Prodigy, Joy Division and Scalpers

I'm having more fun writing these summaries, I think I found my new format.  Now if I can only put this together quicker I might do it daily instead of sporatically.  Anyway, lots of links in this one, enjoy!

Explosions In The Sky/No Age/Eluvium @ The Hollywood Palladium, Los Angeles 6/27/09

For 10 years now, Austin's Explosions In The Sky have been putting their stamp on a cinematic strain of expansive, chiming instrumental post-rock. This tour is functioning as something of a decade-anniversary celebration, then, with Munaf thanking the Palladium Saturday night for getting emotional with them for all these years. They should thank Friday Night Lights, too; while The Show Everybody Should Be Watching's ratings remain criminally low, there's no denying a certain swell of adoration for EITS after three seasons of providing note-perfect theme music situational music to the note-perfect small town classic. (Gabe knows what I'm talking about.) The Palladium set offered little by way of light show; according to photographer Andrew Youssef, it was just a no frills, "straight up melt your face rock" show. Good undercard too, including fellow atmospheric dramatist Eluvium, and suf-punk relief coming by way of No Age, who played a new song that may or may not have been titled "Fuck Prop 8 In The Face," which may or may not be one of the great song titles of 2009. (It may.) Lots of photos of the night here, and you can catch the Explosions anniversary tour on these dates. - Source
