Lots of good stuff from the holiday weekend.  Mainly the videos from the Primal Scream Screamadelica shows.  Seeing them doing Loaded was pretty fuckin' awesome and it's something that I've never seen.  The chances of a show like that coming to the US is pretty rare but damn.  They should get together with Suede and knock it out.

I'm having more fun writing these summaries, I think I found my new format.  Now if I can only put this together quicker I might do it daily instead of sporatically.  Anyway, lots of links in this one, enjoy!

Lots of odd items in the roundup today.  My favorite is the Neil Young story about his Hybrid car exploding.  That's just good/bad stuff right there.

Arcade Fire have teamed up with Google to create an interactive film called, The Wilderness Downtown.  It features the Arcade Fire track, "We Used To Wait" off their recently released Suburbs album.  And it's a pretty fantastic demo of the new HTML5 standard.  For you less technical folks, sites like these are typically built using Adobe Flash which is annoying because it requires a plugin (which is sometimes slow and buggy).  The animation, sounds, and video all use features that are all built directly into the browser, a major step forward from the old boring websites.

Technical aspects aside, the film itself is pretty astounding.  You are prompted for the home address where you grew up and then it will use satellite & google street views of your childhood home directly in the video.  My favorite part is when you get to write a note directly in the video.  Take a few minutes to check it out (and you may have to download Google's Chrome to enjoy it).

They were on the Daily Show last night and performed "Month of May" and the shot of lead singer Win Butler next to Jon Stewart was a little odd considering how tall Win is compared to Jon.  Another odd fact is that Arcade Fire have the #1 album in America with their release of Suburbs last week.  This isn't the "indie" or "college" charts, this is the Billboard 200.  You can see the results on quite possibly one of the ugliest sites on the internet.  I don't know how I feel about Arcade Fire being on the same chart as Eminem, Avenged Sevenfold, Justin Bieber, or the "Now That's What I Call Music" compilations.

Arcade Fire return to the Super Bowl!  Back in 2008 the NFL (National Football League) took it upon themselves to play portions of "No Cars Go" during the broadcast.  Arcade Fire had no prior knowledge of the fact and also hadn't given the NFL permission to use their song.  There were talks of lawsuits but nothing really materialized.  This year was different and the NFL actually licensed, "Wake Up", to be used.  Arcade Fire had donated all proceeds to the Haiti relief charity, Stand with Haiti.

Grizzly Bear make their debut in the Super Bowl by having their track, "Two Weeks", play during a VW commercial (click Read More to see it).  I remember being outraged when I was younger to see bands that I love have their music in commercials, but I've since come to the reality that they need to eat as well.  So it's now a pleasent surprise to hear some good music get the massive exposure it deserves.

Renowned dance troupes have choreographed original works to the music of Arcade Fire, Spoon and The Rosebuds, among other Merge Records artists, which they will perform at a one-off event next month. - Source
