So let's try something new.  I've been on vacation for over a week and have gathered up a ton of links to interesting stories.  Instead of writing a bunch of little stories for each thing, I'm just going to lump them all in this one post.  This should get me all caught up and ready for the rest of the week.

Y'know how when you go to a concert and there are all these annoying people trying to film it on their crappy phones?  Well a bunch of Radiohead fans decided to make it a mission to record a concert from as many angles as possible with the goal of creating a full concert DVD.  They gathered the footage and Radiohead even gave them the audio directly from the board.  So you have footage which is surprisingly not horrible AND amazing sound AND it's available for download.

The site has been down all week (for me) and it's finally working today.  My favorite part is their credits page where it has the list of contributors.  If the site is busted, you can also watch the whole thing on youtube (link goes directly to the youtube playlist with all the songs queued up).

Phil Selway is the drummer for Radiohead and he's going to release a solo album very soon called, "Familial".  You can stream four songs from the upcoming release over at soundcloud (via MusicSlut).

The BBC reviewed the album and say it's a rather mellow (that's me paraphrasing, I'm not a writer), "In fact, even the most fervent of Radiohead fans might lack the patience to get excited about this humble collection. But therein lies its charm."

The full title of  her cover album is, "Amanda Palmer Performs The Popular Hits of Radiohead on her Magical Ukulele."  And that pretty much sums it all up but I'll try to add some filler here.  For one, you can buy the album for a measly 0.84 cents which is used to cover ASCAP and Paypal fees.  Or you can be generous and pay more because 0.84 cents is just silly considering that it's actually a pretty great EP.  If you don't believe me, then you can stream the full release below.

First off, David Fincher is the guy that directed Fight Club.  If that's not enough right there, he also directed Se7en, Panic Room, and Alien 3 (which is better then everyone thinks),  Granted, he's been on bit of a downward spiral since his last couple of movies have been Zodiac and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.  So he's like a band that started out really strong and is kinda fizzing out.

Secondly,  yup, they're making a movie about the Facebook story called The Social Network.  Trent Reznor was planning on taking a break after his last Nine Inch Nails tour, but David Fincher asked him to write the score.  So he cancelled his vacation and went to work and he has this to say, "Speaking of the film... it's really fucking good. And dark!"

Thirdly, a new trailer has been released (below) and used the Scala & Kolacny Brothers’ cover of “Creep”.  It really makes the movie look more creepy and while I'm typically not a "check out this video guys!" guy, you really need to check out this video.

The linup for Coachella was announced today and it's full of surprises and the usual reunions.  Jaz-Z is headlining Friday which is pretty non-Coachella-like and surprising.  He's headlining with LCD Soundsystem and Them Crooked Vultures (the rock supergroup consisting of John Paul Jones [Led Zepplin], Dave Grohl [Nirvana], and Josh Homme [Queens of the Stoneage]).  Other Friday highlights are a reunited Public Image Limited, Echo & the Bunnymen, Grizzly Bear, She & Him, and Grace Jones (?!?!).

Saturday is headlined by Muse, Faith No More and Tiesto.  And also has MGMT, Hot Chip, Devo, Coheed and Cambria, 2ManyDJ's, Z-Trip, the XX, Mew, Raveonettes, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros, Camera Obscura, and a bunch of other little bands that I have yet to discover.

Sunday is headlined by ORBITAL!  Okay, not really, but they are the headliners in my mind.  Gorillaz, Pavement and Thom York take the top three spots.  You also have Phoenix, Spoon, Sly and the Family Stone (?!?), Yo La Tengo and about two dozen bands to round out the lineup.

This looks like a good year.  I was looking to cut a day or so out of the lineup to save some money but there are some great "must-see" bands on each day.  After last year I was questioning if I should go again and it looks like I'm going to be sweating along with the rest of you out in the desert for one more year.

Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon has claimed that Radiohead showed up smaller, poorer bands with the release of 2007's 'In Rainbows', calling their release plan a "marketing ploy". - Source
