Air's Soundtrack, More new Orbital, and some new tours announced

The very first science fiction movie is a silence movie about a voyage to the moon.  Since it's french it's called "Le Voyage Dans La Lune".  And since it's French, Air wrote the soundtrack to it.  It was a coin flip between them and Daft Punk (HA, stupid americans!).  I find it interesting because it was made in black and white and hand colored versions back in the early 1900's.  The black and white version has long since been destroyed and the colored version was found in 1993 but had to be restored.  Naturally, wikipedia has more info on this film.

Also happening is Killing Joke's return, a bunch of tour announcements, and what the hell was Echo and the Bunnymen doing in a superbowl ad?

More tours, and I miss Failure.

Nada Surf do "Enjoy the Silence".  All this reminds me of is Failure's version and after that I went on a huge google adventure trying to see what the bands are doing at the moment.  It also reminded me of the last versions of the touring Lollapalooza.  Tool were headlining and Failure were also on the bill.  Do to someone backing out, Failure opened up the main stage and then 4 or 5 hours later they headlined the second stage.  First and last time I have ever seen the same band play twice on the same day.

Smattering of News That's All Over the Place.

The news was a little light last week as I spent a bunch of time in the hostpital with my wife as she was recovering from giving birth to our son.  YAY!  I'm a father!

Tons of Good Shows Coming Up...

Lots of good tour news last week.  I bought tickets to see Godspeed but got my scheduling messed up because it's on the same day as Coachella.  Damn, would've loved to see Godspeed at Big Sur, CA.  If you ever get a chance to drive up the California coast, do it.  But remember, it's a LONG drive so make sure you plan accordingly.

Godspeed, Avalanches, Stone Roses, Chemical Brothers live film, Adam Ant tour dates? So much stuff this last week.

Lots of stuff this week.  I'm using the "predict a coachella appearance" expression a bit too much for my taste.  There are just a lot of tour dates announced and they all put bands in Southern California in late April.  In any case, lots of good stuff this week, enjoy!

Long time...

Well, it's been a LONG time.  The last update to this site was back in February but we're still very much alive.  Mainly we've been keeping the twitter/facebook pages updated with news and getting that information back into the site has been a little tedious.  So I'm going to start keeping our site updated as well with the stuff that gets posted in the previous week.  More after the jump:

Mostly Arcade Fire and Radiohead news, since those are some big stories for this week.

Groovy Train: Explosions in the Sky, New Elbow, She & Him, Radiohead, Strokes, Suede, Stone Roses-ish, Pixes

Lots of good stuff, especially the new Elbow track if you missed it.  Plus the clip of Noel talking about how influential the Stone Roeses' Spike Island gig is pretty cool.

Dump #3: Shaun Ryder, Sonic Youth, National, MBV in 8-bit, DJ Shadow, Tool, and a Dave Navarro Reality TV Show!

Let's see how much of this stuff I can put together.  I'm trying to keep on top of my links by using twitter (which automatically goes to facebook) so if you wanna get this info faster please follow us there (some of the stuff below is probably duplicated on twitter and facebook as well)
